The Frozen Lands

I recently remastered the beautiful, sombre mini-album “The Frozen Lands”, which was the final release of music in the Tuu era in 1999. It’s now available for download as FLAC or MP3 files via Bandcamp.

Back in the day, ambient scene review site Ambientrance descriptively reviewed the music as:

“….panoramic, otherworldly vistas….a place of rolling clouds of sound, an unknown area bathed in washes of dark and lightness”

The compositions were originally created from material performed for “Calls From The Rock”, the first major exhibition of work by ceramic artist, Nikki Coe. Sadly, I’ve not been able to find images of the posthumously staged show, only this obituary by Sebastian Blackie, published in Ceramic Review (March/April 1996)

Perhaps potters have a very particular understanding of death: the transformation in the kiln of plastic clay, with its infinite possibilities, to an immutable state can be seen as a metaphor; but it is a bitter irony that Nikki, who possessed such a wonderful mixture of vision, sensitivity, generosity and artistic talent should have been destroyed by the very tool that gave permanence to her work.

Deserted Cities

deserted-sonogramMy 2007 limited edition CD “Deserted Cities” is now available as a multi-format digital download through Bandcamp. The original edition included the main four track CD EP on a black CD, with additional remix tracks available on a separate 3″ CD.

Originally included in the Super Jewel Box case alongside the discs were sets of photo strip images and a brass sygil object.

The four tracks, created under the codetripper artist name mix analog synths and glitchy plugins in Ableton Live and use a wealth of archive recordings. Tabla tracks and beats created for video, snatches of shortwave radio and circuit bent electronics from projects that never reached completion.

I’ve added “Immersiv”, a newly unearthed track from the archives in this digital version of “Deserted Cities

Digital download version of my limited edition codetripper “Deserted Cities” release available now on Bandcamp.
