I’ve done a few circuit bending projects on toys before now, but decided to have a go at building an Atari Punk Console. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts at marking up my own circuit on stripboard, I found that circuit-bending site, GetLoFi have produced a PCB for this project, ready to go.
Once I got that, I started the project at the last Circuit Bending Drop In session at South Hill Park. One of the things I love about these instruments is the unique sounds and hands on controls; the finished item has two control pots, a pitch drop switch and a photo-resistor cell for theremin-like  control. After casing it up, it’s not bad for a first attempt.
Lots of potential for future drones – here’s a quick sample mix of some of the APC sounds.
